The Lake District - Merewood Country House Hotel

Everyone now and then, we all need a little space and my recent visit to the Lake District couldn't have arrived in better timing.
We all have this fascination of exploring the world, but we rarely stop and explore the own country we're living in.
The Lake District is one of those places that should be on everyone's bucket list, it's an experience unlike anything else, so make the most of it.
I was lucky enough to spend a weekend at the Merewood Country House Hotel, it is nestled amongst the shrubbery and trees, with Windermere lake just below, and let me just say, waking up to a view of a gorgeous lake and enjoying breakfast with a view unlike any other, is something I would gladly experience again.
The hotel is beautiful, it has an old school vintage theme throughout, which of course, matches its surroundings, and its surroundings are something that shouldn't be missed.
The Lake District is any hikers paradise, there is so much to see, do and of course eat (I can't go anywhere unless there are a few good restaurants for me to devour a feast at).
As a special weekend away, I booked in for the seven course sample menu at the Merewood. I'm normally a one plate kind of girl, but seven miniature plates, of divine food seemed right up my street, and I wasn't wrong.
The vegetarian menu was calling my name, but don't get me wrong, I'll always opt for a steak if they're promoting that on a menu, but this time around, the veggie side won me over.
I'll attempt that the course beat me, by the fifth course I was stuffed, but they all looked too pretty for me to do attempt a bite.

Okay, okay, so the food looks gorgeous, right? It really was, and maybe the view helped (no, not you Jack), or maybe it was the bottle of wine? Whichever it was, I'm definitely going to experience a sample menu in the near future, and you should too. Even if you're not the biggest fan of the menu, it is one of this unusual experiences that really live up to the expectations - DO IT, DO IT, DO IT.
One thing is for certain, exploring the UK has become an even bigger note on my bucket list, there is so much here that I sometimes don't think about it and would much rather book a flight and explore a completely different country, but a weekend in the Lake District has changed that for me.
Adventure is out there, but I've still no idea where my next stop will be. If you've got any recommendations, I'm all ears.

What a fabulous view! I adore the Lake District - and always great to her about places doing vegetarian menus.
